Installing fire rated glass is a highly beneficial addition solution to any home or commercial property. As one of the leading fire rated glass suppliers in the UK, at Me and My Glass, we know how important installing fire rated windows to your property can be.

These powerful solutions can withstand high heat, ensuring that they are able to offer far more superior strength compared to other solutions. Alongside offering unrivalled strength, fire rated glass is also able to help contain a fire, preventing it from spreading as quickly through a building. This helps to maximise the safety of your property, belongings and family.

No matter whether it is for your home or your business, fireproof glass can significantly enhance your safety. All of our solutions are created custom to your needs, so if you are looking to install fire rated glass to your property, get in touch with our team today. Fire-rated glass is not as strong as toughened glass; it simply means that fire cannot burn through it, and it does not shatter. Toughened glass is stronger, but it will shatter if a fire burns against it for a period of time.

We need the following information:

  • Glass Finish: Clear or Sandblasted
  • Framework being used? Hardwood or steel
  • Internal or External Glazing? – If any glass is coming into contact with UV rays it needs to be an external grade fire glass.
  • Screen or Door?
  • Part of an escape route? Yes or no
  • Fire rated 30mins only

If the glazing is internal, there will be no sunlight reaching the glass, and it will be in the interior of the building. External glazing is on the exterior of the building—if sunlight is directly in view of it. Please note, if internal glazing is installed externally, it will eventually react and turn a misty white colour, which indicates failure of the glass.

External glass is required if UV rays are in contact with the glass unfiltered, that’s to say not through another window or door. Providing UV rays are filtered by another window, an internal glass can be used.

Max measurements for timber 7.2mm is 2500mm x 1000mm.

For steel you can only go up to 1200mm x 1170mm or 900mm width x 2500mm.
