What is a Bevelled Glass Edge and How to Measure the Bevel Angle
A bevelled glass edge is a sloped or angled edge featured on the outside perimeter of a piece of glass or a mirror. The angle typically slopes down from the inside surface of the glass. This bevel can be applied to one side or all sides of the glass. The result is an aesthetic edge that creates a pattern, offering a visually pleasing alternative to a standard polished edge. The beveled edge also forms a prism that refracts light, creating color highlights. Bevelled edges are commonly seen on tabletops, shelves, and mirrors.
Measuring a bevelled edge is quite simple. Use a tape measure to measure from the start of the slope to the end of the edge. Refer to the image below, which shows that only the width of the bevel needs to be measured. We recommend a 25mm bevel, but bevel sizes can vary, with options including 5mm, 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, and 25mm.

Mirror Furniture Replacement
We frequently receive requests for this type of work, particularly for repairing mirror furniture.
The challenge is that the small, beveled mirror pieces used in furniture are typically handmade overseas. For example, mirrored furniture. The machines we have in the UK for beveling glass are large and not designed for smaller pieces. The smallest piece of glass we can bevel is 100mm x 100mm. When the piece is longer in length and narrower in width, we can bevel only three sides and then polish the remaining edge.
Most customers choose this option, as they can’t find anyone else who can bevel all four edges. In fact, once the piece is fitted, the polished edge often goes unnoticed.
