We can provide advice on the glass size needed. Please send a picture of your pond with the measurements for the lengths and widths.
Raised ponds are a great addition to any garden; however, there are dangers when keeping fish in them. One major risk is that some fish may attempt to jump out of the water. If they are too close to the edge, they could leap out of the pond, potentially falling from the raised height. This can lead to injury or even something more serious, like fatality. To help prevent this, glass jump guards with clips can be installed around the pond. In the event that a fish does jump, the height of the glass will prevent it from escaping and ensure it falls back into the pond safely. The glass used is 10mm thick, toughened/tempered for added strength. This type of glass is often referred to as “safety glass,” and the edges are polished and smooth.
These jump guards not only help prevent fish from escaping, but they also act as a deterrent against herons and improve safety for children around the pond.
No matter the size of your pond, we can cut the jump guards to fit. All we need is the width of each side. We also provide the clips and clamps needed to secure the glass in place.
Create your own glass jump guard balustrades with us. We supply stainless fittings, including D-clamps and corner clamps, to secure the glass. These can be used on both stone and wood surfaces. We recommend two corner clamps for each corner where the glass meets. For jump guards 2400mm in length, we advise using three clamps.
When measuring for jump guards, we usually recommend setting them 50-100mm in from the edge of the inside of the pond.
Size Recommendations: The maximum length of a jump guard should not exceed ten times the height of the glass. For example, a 300mm high jump guard should be no longer than 3 meters.
